BioDioRama is a free tool that runs in your web browser for making scientific figures. Pick from 19,000 ready-made 3D biology and chemistry models, pose and colour them in the 3D Studio, then lay out journal figures, graphical abstracts, conference posters and slides in the 2D Studio, which also searches tens of thousands of openly licensed reference images and science icons (Servier Medical Art, NIH BioArt, Bioicons, Reactome, PhyloPic, Wikimedia Commons and more) and places each with its credit line. No installation and no account: your work is saved in your own browser.

What you can make

• Journal figures and graphical abstracts, exported as TIFF or PNG up to 600 dpi, PDF or layered SVG
• Conference posters in every common size (A0, 36 × 48 in, 48 × 36 in and more), from ready-made templates
• Slides: editable PowerPoint where every picture, shape, arrow and text box is its own object
• 3D scenes and short videos of cells, organs and molecules; 3D model files (.glb) for PowerPoint 3D and Blender
• Clean cut-outs and icons from your own photos — background removal runs on your computer, and photos are never uploaded
